Start with the cabinets your project needs
A kitchen cabinet quote should refer to the cabinets you actually want to buy. Write down whether you need a full kitchen, an island, a pantry run or a few replacement units. Homeowners can start with the room layout; contractors, builders and designers can use the cabinet schedule for the project.
For each cabinet, record its type, width, height, depth and quantity. Keep a drawer base separate from a door base even when the outside dimensions match. A sink base also needs to be identified as a sink base. If a detail is undecided, mark it as a question rather than choosing a cabinet simply to finish the list.
Keep the finish and layout with the cabinet list
Note the door style and finish you prefer. The color images on this site show design ideas; they do not establish that every cabinet is available in every pictured finish. Use the cabinet specifications to identify a possible configuration, and confirm the exact product and finish before ordering.
A room sketch can show where the cabinets belong, which side a door should open from and where an appliance interrupts the run. Keep measurements labeled as width, height or depth. A photograph can help explain the room, but it does not replace measurements. If you are comparing two arrangements, keep them as separate versions so the quote can follow the right list.
