Define where curbside or inside cabinet delivery actually ends

Translate the service name into an agreed physical handoff point and the work still needed afterward.

Choose cabinet delivery by the physical handoff you need, then confirm that the booked service reaches it. Labels such as curbside, threshold and inside delivery do not describe every provider's service in the same way. Ask where the goods will be placed, what route the crew will use and what handling remains for you. An attractive service name is not enough to coordinate the cabinets' last move into the project.

Diagram Name the actual handoff point and the next movement. A service label alone does not define the entire route.

Name the destination in physical terms

Describe the actual desired endpoint: an exterior receiving area, a garage, a first available room or a specified interior location. Include the relevant entrance and level so the provider can evaluate the request. Avoid using inside as the entire instruction when the property contains a garage, lobby and living space that might all be interpreted differently.

FedEx Freight Direct, for example, distinguishes ground-level delivery destinations from a service reaching the first ground-level room. That example illustrates why service levels need a defined endpoint, not why another provider must use the same definitions. Match the actual booking description to the location you require and ask for clarification where the words leave room for different interpretations.

Clarify the boundary at the curb or threshold

For a curbside description, ask where the vehicle can stop and where the shipment will be set down relative to that point. Establish whether the handoff is a pallet or separate cartons and who handles the next movement. Do not assume an exterior delivery includes travel along a driveway simply because the final door is visible from the unloading area.

For a threshold description, identify which entrance is meant and whether the goods are placed outside, through it or in a defined nearby space. A doorway label does not answer how a raised entrance, shared lobby or restricted receiving area will be handled. Give the provider the actual conditions and obtain an endpoint that both parties can recognize on arrival.

Check what inside delivery adds

Ask which room or area qualifies, whether the route includes any changes in level and how the shipment is handled along it. A request for a room of choice should identify the room before booking. Do not assume the crew can change from moving a pallet to carrying separate large cartons merely because both tasks would eventually put the goods indoors.

Imagine the buyer expects cabinets in the room where they will be installed, but the booking covers the first accessible ground-level space. Delivery to that space may still leave substantial moving work for the buyer. Resolve the endpoint and remaining task before ordering the service, rather than discovering the difference when the driver has completed the booked handoff.

Separate placement from unpacking and installation

Confirm whether the delivery includes package opening, removal of packing materials, pallet removal or only placement of the wrapped goods. These tasks should be described individually. Indoor placement does not establish that the crew will inspect every component, assemble cabinets or install hardware. Ask what remains packaged and what material will be left at the site after the delivery team leaves.

Coordinate any additional work with the people who will perform it. If the buyer arranges a separate mover or installer, give them the same endpoint description and expected package condition. A helper booked to move loose cartons may be unprepared to receive an intact pallet. The handoff between providers needs the same clarity as the handoff from the truck.

Confirm a usable alternative before delivery day

Share access information with the booking contact and ask how a route or destination that cannot be used will be handled. If an alternative receiving point is proposed, decide whether it supports the rest of your plan and record its acceptance. Do not treat the driver's arrival as the moment to negotiate a different service or an unreviewed indoor route.

Keep the confirmed service level and physical endpoint with the order, and brief the receiving person on both. If the provider's confirmation and the seller's description differ, resolve the discrepancy before relying on the service. The best choice is the one that leaves a defined, manageable amount of work after delivery, with the location and handling understood by everyone responsible for the next move.

Beyond the finish / The construction

Cabinet construction. Made visible.

The sample shows the door frame, a separate center panel, the face frame and the cabinet box. Each component has its own place in this Shaker construction.

Cabinet sample with exposed frame, panel joints and layered edges
Shaker construction: door frame, center panel, face frame and cabinet box. The cutaway helps locate these parts; confirm each material in the specifications for the selected cabinet.

01 / Door frame

The Shaker door has rails and stiles around a separate center panel. The frame and center panel are different components; confirm their materials in the specifications for the selected cabinet.

02 / Face frame

The face frame surrounds the opening at the front of the cabinet box and sits behind the doors. The face frame, door frame and cabinet box are separate parts.

03 / Cabinet box

The sample exposes the cabinet sides, interior surfaces and layered edges. The image does not establish the wood species or material specification of a selected cabinet.
